Crowned by a domed belltower, this impressive church was built in the Spanish Renaissance style. Its three entrance portals are surrounded by elaborate carving and lead into a sanctuary boasting handpainted ceilings, elaborate stained glass windows, and a beautiful marble altar. Tucked between the church and a subordinate building to the right is a garden area, centered around a bronze statue of the Virgin Mary, arms outstretched, palms out in prayer and supplication. These beautiful areas, both inside and out, lend a feeling of permanence to the entire complex, which maintains a sense of peace and calmness despite its location on busy North County Road. |
